This is a light-filled penthouse studio for 2 people in the centre of Conversano, in Puglia. It is the ideal retreat for a couple looking for a peaceful escape in one of the most beautiful regions of Italy.

The spacious 3rd-floor studio includes a comfortable double bed and a small kitchenette. Glass doors lead out to a private terrace where guests can enjoy breakfast al fresco. Back inside, the room has good storage, a flat-screen TV, a coffee machine, a kettle and a fridge.

Guests have access to an attractive shared living space on the ground floor, which includes a sofa and a large TV.

Location The residence is on a quiet street, in the centre of the lovely town of Conversano. Conversano is known for its medieval castle, winding lanes and delicious cherries that are grown in the orchards surrounding the town. It is just 10km from the coast, so guests can get the best of both worlds - stunning history and the pristine Adriatic beaches. One of the most striking beaches in Italy is Lama Monachile, Polignano a Mare (15 minutes). The white sandy beach is small, but the water is clear and a great place for snorkelling.

Not to be missed is Alberobello (35 minutes), which looks like something from a fairytale. It is a town of Trulli - the small, conical houses only found in this part of Italy and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Famous for championing the Slow Food movement, the restaurants and cafés are a must.

Shops, cafés and other amenities are all within easy reach. Conversano’s vibrant, weekly market (Friday morning from 7.30am) is the best place to pick up the best local produce and to shop like a local.

The closest airport is at Bari, a 45-minute drive from the residence.
