Trade the beach for the pool and back again in this two-bedroom garden home in Pittulongu. Sleeping up to 4, the 2-bedroom retreat offers a private pool right outside the door and a sandy stretch of coast five to ten minutes on foot.

Olive trees shade the round, stone-edged pool, and a pergola-covered table waits for long lunches outdoors. Inside, the kitchen holds a hob, oven, dishwasher and coffee machine for easy mornings before the beach, opening onto a living room with its own terrace access. Retreat into one of two bedrooms, a double or joinable twins, both air-conditioned and finished with a wardrobe, then rinse off the salt in a bathroom that keeps its retro pale-blue tiling and pedestal sink. Additionally, a games library is at your disposal, making the stay entertaining for children as well as adults.

Please note: A car is recommended to make the most of the wider area, though the beach and local shops are both a short walk away.

Location

The beach at La Squalo, and the wider sweep of Pittulongu Beach a little further on, is about a 5 to 10-minute walk, a long stretch of sand with shallow, family-friendly water. Local alimentari shops, bakeries and seaside restaurants are just as close, also a 5 to 10-minute walk, for morning coffee or an easy dinner out. Olbia's city centre, with larger supermarkets and more choice for shopping and nightlife, is about a 10 to 15-minute drive. Further afield, Porto Istana's clear water is around 20 minutes away, Porto Rotondo's marina and restaurants about 25 to 30 minutes, and San Teodoro's La Cinta beach roughly 35 to 40 minutes. For a full day out, the Costa Smeralda is 40 to 50 minutes by car, and Palau, the ferry port for the La Maddalena Archipelago, is about an hour, with the islands themselves around an hour and a half away including the crossing.
