Unwind in a private outdoor jacuzzi with views over the Modena Apennines at this hillside farmhouse retreat for two couples, surrounded by chestnut woods and open meadow. Inside, the first-floor living area is built around a stone fireplace and a solid wood dining table beneath chestnut beams, with a kitchen fitted with a cooker hob, oven, toaster and fridge for cooking together after a day outdoors.

Upstairs, the main double bedroom opens onto its own balcony over the garden and has its own en-suite bathroom, with a second double bedroom completing the sleeping space. Outside, the fenced private garden gives onto open countryside, with an outdoor dining table and a shared barbecue area for warm evenings outside.

Location

The property sits in the hills above Serramazzoni, a 5-minute drive from the town's restaurants, cafés, bars and supermarkets, with chestnut woods and open countryside on the doorstep. Modena is a 45-minute drive, home to the Enzo Ferrari Museum and the city's UNESCO-listed historic centre, its Cathedral, Piazza Grande and Torre Civica among the highlights. The Salse di Nirano nature reserve, known for its unusual mud volcanoes and geological formations, is around 30 minutes away, and the frescoed halls of Sassuolo's Ducal Palace are also within easy reach. The local table draws on old mountain traditions too, think chestnut-based dishes, handmade tigelle and borlenghi, calzagatti, Parmigiano Reggiano and balsamic vinegar, best paired with a glass of Lambrusco. Reggio Emilia Airport is abouot an hour's drive away.
