The apartment sits on a quiet residential street just a 10-minute walk from Formigine's train station and its medieval castle, a fortress with an archaeological park and interactive exhibits worth an hour or two. A shorter walk, closer to 5 minutes, reaches the cafés and pastel-fronted squares of Piazza Calcagnini and Piazza della Repubblica, along with a good choice of restaurants and a supermarket for self-catering.

Formigine also puts guests within easy reach of Italy's Motor Valley. The Maranello Ferrari Museum is a 10-minute drive, with test drives available nearby. At the same time, the Enzo Ferrari Museum and Modena's UNESCO-listed historic centre, home to its Cathedral, Piazza Grande and Torre Civica, are both a 20-minute drive. For a slower pace, the Colombarone Oasis nature reserve, with its ponds, poplars and walking trails, makes for an easy picnic trip in that same 10 minutes.
